For my client, a well-established European company and International world leader in Med-Tech Retail Industry, I am looking for a very dynamic and hands-on Head of HR BeLux.

This undisputed global leader runs 2 billion euros of turnover and employs around 20 000 people over 30 countries across all continents. It’s their capacity for innovation, along with the high quality, professional services offered, the extensive distribution network and its brand recognition, the consolidated relationship with their community and its unique customer-focused business model, that have made this possible for the company. The company’s strategy going forward will be to further strengthen its leadership worldwide through both solid organic growth and acquisitions in order to achieve optimal market share in all the countries where the Group is already present and by entering new markets with attractive development opportunities.

Function information

In this role, you’ll have several key relationships, you will report to the General Manager Belux & Human Resources Director EMEA and your direct reports consists of 8/10 people. In addition you’ll have several other key relationships in the Belux Leadership team, as well as in their International HR Community and local key Stakeholders.


You will partner with GM on strategic priorities including talent strategy, organizational effectiveness, change management and employee engagement. The local Head of HR for the Belux will manage an organization of local HR operations and HR Business Partner.

There are global and regional HR guidelines for all key HR processes. In detail you will be responsible for:

  • Shape and drive the HR strategy with a business perspective and global mindset
  • Coach and develop Senior Business Leaders (Leadership Team in the Country)
  • Identify business needs and lead organizational change initiatives
  • Actively consult and provide solutions related to workforce, talent and organizational matters to senior business leaders
  • Develop forward thinking solutions based on understanding of relevant business operations and strategies
  • Develop and drive workforce and talent strategic plans
  • Advise on the design and implementation of HR programs, ensuring these remain relevant to the business supported
  • Support HR Leadership team on the HR strategic plan
  • Manage relations and support local employees
  • Manage social relations with the counterparts involved (Works Council / Trade Unions)


  • Transformation of HR organization to a high performing, up to date organization
  • Fixing the basis, e.g. harmonization of processes and tools in line with the corporate approach
  • Focus on Talent Management: Develop it to the next level with focus on attracting and developing talents, set-up of required future-oriented capabilities for the workforce, e.g. build-up of branding and digital capabilities
  • Acknowledgment by the local Leadership team and senior stakeholders

The future position holder that we are looking for should be a modern HR generalist with HR best practice experience. Ideally you are experienced both in business partnering and talent management. You should be commercially astute and should have the credibility to be a partner to the executive team. You also should be excellent in execution and should be both a good communicator and cooperative team player. As person, you should be dynamic, smart, hands-on and result oriented.

  • Maximum 10 years of working experience in HR area
  • HR generalist with experience especially in business partnering and talent management (recruitment and development)ideally acquired in a fast-growing company, preferably FMCG, retail or telecommunication
  • Experience in transformations
  • Know-how in transforming an administrative HR organization to a high performing organization
  • Worked in complex and matrix organizations
  • Has been used to managing complexity and to matrix reporting ideally in a international environment
  • 3+ years of experience leading teams of HR professionals
  • Has led teams with at least 2 team members
  • Academic background in Business Administration, Human Resources or similar
  • Ideally complemented by an MBA or Masters in adjacent discipline
  • Fluent in English, French & Dutch
