The Role:

Badenoch & Clark's Public Sector client in Cheshire is currently recruiting for a Windows 10 specialist contractor to lead on a key and pivotal upgrade for the organisation from Windows 7 to Windows 10. The role is for an initial 5 months, with a scope to extend, and is a truly fantastic opportunity for the successful candidate to lead on high profile piece of IT consultancy and project planning.

The organisation is now looking to set up the first steps of migrating from Windows 7 to Win10, with the January 2020 deadline drawing closer. Our client is at the early stages of their planning of the migration of 2,500 devices from Windows 7 to Windows 10, with them planning to start the upgrade and rollout from April 2019. In advance of this, your role would be to lead on the technical organisational readiness of their infrastructure, including all aspects of application capability testing, in advance of planning all elements or the future deployment project timescales and resource requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

- Testing of apps to check compatibility with Windows10, including supplier management to support with this.
- Financial and project planning of the future upgrade project.
- Development of risks and issues identification prior to project kick-off so that all potential user downtime is negated.
- User engagement and training plan creation to guarantee that the upgrade causes as little disruption to service as possible.
Skills Required:
- Expert knowledge of windows upgrades, including application compatibility identification and organisational readiness preparation.
- The ability to evidence key experience or knowledge of leading on Windows upgrades preparation and planning.
- Experience of liaising with suppliers and testers to investigate all potential application compatibility issues with Windows 10.
- Experience of managing a team, leading a project and writing detailed and structured project plans.
