Press Officer

A fantastic job opportunity has arisen for a Press Officer to join one of our largest Local Authority clients in a temporary assignment for initially 3 months (with every possibility of extension depending on performance).

Based in City of London, this is a full time role (36 hours per week, Monday to Friday).

There are two opportunities to join an award winning communications team in the heart of London, working for one of the most ambitious and high profile councils in the country. You will have the chance to work in the busiest press office in local government, delivering proactive coverage at national titles across a whole range of council services. There is a huge variety; we deal with proactive and reactive press ranging from business, planning, licensing, cultural, housing, environmental, adult social care, schools and public health amongst many others.

The client is seeking somebody who wants to join our ambitious team, bringing digital and media skills to our press office, alongside campaign experience. You must have the ability to deliver our own top quality content alongside national, regional and local media coverage, to support our award winning communications campaigns.

You will have a clear ability to plan ahead, staying on top of a set of busy briefs and working with officers to create media opportunities in advance. You will also be confident handling councillors and senior stakeholders, and have camera phone photography and video skills.

You will also be proficient at social media and creating content quickly and will be expected to support councillors at high profile events.

You will be willing to attend meetings outside of normal working hours and to take part in a busy 24/hour on-call phone rota and early morning media summary schedule.
