Badenoch & Clark have an opening for a proven, senior/lead 3rd line IT Technician to join our client in Surrey on a contract basis.

Please note, due to IR35 legislation the pay model for this position will be via an umbrella company. If you do not wish to work through an umbrella company, this will not be the right position for you. If you are happy to work through an umbrella company please read on;

You will be part of a small IT department and, working in the capacity of 'Lead Technician', will be accountable for senior 3rd line server and network administration and problem resolution. Some previous team leading would support your application; note, this role is not about man management but it is about providing assurance to those on the team who are less experienced (2nd line level) and being willing to provide some guidance and up skilling when needed.

From a technical stand point your skill set, in order of importance should consist of the following;

- Windows Server (2000 - 2016, latest versions highly favourable).
- Citrix (XenDesktop, XenApp, Netscaler).
- Cisco routing/switching & security. LAN/VLAN/WAN/SAN.
- MS Exchange, Active Directory & Windows Desktop.

This position is best suited to a capable all rounder who enjoys and is well versed in turning their hand to all sorts of server and network related issues. It is highly likely that you will have a minimum of 10 years commercial experience and will have worked in a 3rd line support capacity for more than 5 years to date.

You will need to be a good communicator and enjoy talking to users at all levels from the junior to most senior in the organisation. You will also act as main point of contact for 3rd party providers and further, support the Head of IT in decision making relating to IT infrastructure related matters.

Whilst not essential, supporting technical qualifications such as MCSE, CCNA etc and ITIL Service Management will be in your favour.

The reason for this post is to back fill a senior member of staff who has left. To 'hold the fort' so to speak, on all BAU server and network related matters until such point that a suitable permanent replacement can be appointed.

If you enjoy working in small team environments where the day to day work offers you variety and good autonomy, this position will appeal to you. If your preference is for much larger company environments with more prescriptive duties this is probably not the right role for you.

In summary, if your profile is a good match to the above description and you are content to undertake positions where you are paid through an umbrella company payment model, please do not hesitate to apply. Badenoch & Clark look forward to receiving your application.
