Head of Site for PE owned B2B company - Badenoch + Clark

High-volume repetitive production B2B company recently acquired a new location. Now it needs a turnaround on the production site, align the operations to the new way of working, optimize the processes, shape a new cultural DNA and increase the business profits. Therefore a strategically sharp and at the same very hands-on and tactically operating expert is needed. With strong character and people management skills.

About the company

This PE owned B2B company has several sites in Europe, including 8 of them in the Netherlands. With a solid presence in Benelux, Denmark and Germany this organization has a strong niche in its segment. The management team and board are of high standard quality. And the work ethics and attitude are according.

Seven months ago they acquired a new location in Almere with a headcount of ~150 people. This location needs a thorough transformation, including setting new KPI’s, improving operations, launching new initiatives, optimizing processes and headcount, developing and implementing new performance management system, improving EBITA, aligning procurement and planning, setting up new ERP system and other exciting challenges. Therefore they are looking for a new Head of Site to lead all of this change and be in charge of it when the operations are fully “put on rails”.

About the role

The acquisition of this new location creates a special momentum. The company must make both a business and cultural change to bring this site to incredible results for which this location has the capacity and resources. As a Head of Site you are responsible for this total transformation and further line management of the location. With short and long-term goals, you identify and address all areas for improvements. That is why you need to be highly analytical, have a helicopter point of view on the business and be able to translate that into practical improvements and solutions with a down-to-earth approach. Next to that you are a solid people manager, someone who rebuilds commitment and eagerness.

With your approach, strong experience in change management, transformation, operational excellence and / or Lean Six Sigma, you lead the entire site. You are fully responsible for P&L, creating and implementing a new KPIs system, optimizing the business and creating an efficient nice work environment for all the staff. Further improve the manufacturing footprint and order flow across locations and you optimize organizational set-up, including organizational chart redesign and talent assessment. You will a few senior level professionals to manage directly (Head of Planning, Customer Service Lead, Operations Manager, HR, etc) and cooperate closely with group functions like Finance, IT, Sales. And manage close relationships with the local workers council (OR). You enhance collaboration with other Location Managers, and are tightly engaged with board members.

You have overall responsibility for performance of the manufacturing site in terms of reliability, efficiency and costs. You are leading the end to end process from order intake till transport. You ensure adherence to safety and quality standards (e.g., BRC), lead time (QUOTIF) and budget (incl. Capex). Responsibility for overall site and facility management, drive sustainable improvements on the short-term in production locations, set-up a local operational excellence program in close alignment with other production sites. Your main location is Almere, management meetings will be occurring from time to time in Breda.

Main criteria

● 10+ years of experience in managing manufacturing / production sites. This can also be a consulting exit oppurtinity.

● University Degree, preferably Master’s

● Preferably change management, transformation, operational excellence and / or Lean Six Sigma background

● Analytical capabilities, pragmatism in translating analyses into (short/long-term) concrete actions

● ‘People manager’ with ability to build a strong local management team and to connect with shop-floor employees

● Strong drive for change and improvement, mindset and capabilities to make fundamental decisions

The procedure

After a (digital) interview at Badenoch + Clark, three interviews will follow at the client’s office with amongst others the CEO, CFO and other site managers.
