Opportunity

For a leading, globally integrated company focuses on developing and manufacturing innovative packaging materials, medical compounds and precision-crafted medical tubing solutions we are now looking for a Controller with industrial experience

Responsibilities

The resource is responsible for leading the accounting function of the company as well as supporting the company leadership team by serving as a functional business partner who provides meaningful information and analysis regarding operations.  The resource will ensure accurate and timely financial and management reporting; design and maintain a strong internal control environment and provide thorough analysis of the financial impacts of operating decisions.

  • Oversee and maintain the accounting and financial reporting function for the company, including monthly, quarterly and annual financial close processes.
  • Ensure all accounting records, transactions and processes comply with company’s global accounting policies and procedures as well as US GAAP and statutory regulations.
  • Support the company, including the Managing Director and Board of Directors, with statutory filings by preparing all required statutory filings, ensuring 100% compliance with Italian statutory regulations, organizing required review and approval of respective filings, and filing of all required filings in a timely manner.  Work with company’ Director of Finance on accounting for technical accounting issues; provide technical accounting guidance and recommendations to management as necessary and document company’s position as required. 
  • Maintain an internal control environment compliant with Sarbanes-Oxley and company’s requirements; assist in resolution of any identified accounting and internal control findings.
  • Establish a balance sheet account reconciliation and review process and ensure reconciliations are completed in accordance with company’s global policy.
  • Manage the statutory reporting process for the company, including the filing of all required statutory reports.
  • Manage a team of two responsible for treasury and transactional accounting.
  • Actively promote a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Support ad-hoc requests as required.

Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in Accounting, Finance or Business.
  • Deep knowledge of both US GAAP, IFRS and Italian statutory regulations.
  • 5+ years of experience leading the accounting function of a US-owned or multinational manufacturing company.
  • Solid management skills, with experience with leading teams and mentoring/growing team members.
  • Demonstrated record of accomplishment of being a hands-on leader within a manufacturing environment, with proven knowledge of standard costing principles and systems.
  • Ability to be a business partner and develop innovative solutions to resolve identified problems/issues.
  • Follow-through skills necessary to get information from internal and third parties and have data errors/omissions corrected.
  • The ability to think on your feet and rapidly adjust to changing priorities is necessary.  The ability to inspire confidence and trust are essential. This position requires a strong team player that is committed to a teamwork environment.
  • Strong documentation skills, reporting skills, and computer skills are required.
  • Professional working fluency in both English and Italian. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before senior management.

Positions Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep knowledge of both US GAAP, IFRS and Italian statutory regulations.
  • SAP experience, with system implementation exposure.
  • Financial planning and analysis experience with exposure to managing the development and completion of annual budgets and monthly forecasts.
  • Public accounting experience with a large multinational accounting firm.
  • Experience with shared services and process optimization.
