Client Description:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Compliance resource to broaden the ManCo oversight framework under its widened remit and to take on (respectively represent Luxembourg Compliance) in new business initiatives and regulatory change projects. 

This role is expected to bring strong transformational, relationship building and technical expertise to the team, help to proactively anticipate and identify stakeholder’s compliance needs and collaborate with other advisory and monitoring leads in GC, to deliver globally consistent and best-in-class compliance support.

Responsibilities:

  • The role holder will act as a Senior Compliance Advisor mainly in relation to Company’s Luxembourg Management Company/AIFM and the related fund ranges and pro-actively and independently support its functioning and current as well as forthcoming projects. This includes providing advice to the business on ManCo/AIFM and fund-related matters, helping to define and be part of the appropriate oversight framework for the Company’s Luxembourg-based ManCo and AIFM and defining monitoring activities to be executed via Company‘s Compliance Monitoring team 
  • Take the Compliance lead in upcoming projects in relation to the ManCo/AIFM (and as appropriate for other Luxembourg entities). This entails providing senior Compliance advisory support to the project and its key stakeholders and independently representing Luxembourg Compliance
  • Participate in establishing best-in-class standards and implementing robust processes, policies and procedures as well as an appropriate oversight framework to ensure that the compliance program is effective and efficient
  • Working in conjunction with the other oversight functions including Risk and Legal to ensure regulatory compliance and the management of regulatory risk
  • Work with local business partners to facilitate ongoing compliance of their systems/procedures/processes with relevant statutory, contractual and internal regulations, and provide general compliance support
  • Providing guidance and advice to the board of directors, senior management, and staff in relation to applicable and upcoming regulatory requirements (both, on a pro-active and reactive basis)
  • Appropriately assess Compliance risks as part of business plans a/o decisions, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations

Candidate Profile:

  • Ideally 7-10 years of Compliance experience in relation to UCITS Management Companies and AIFMs, including practical knowledge of providing all aspects of Compliance Advisory and Oversight in relation to these
  • Practical knowledge of core European legislation such as UCITS, and AIFMD. Knowledge of legislation such as SFDR, EMIR or MAR would be an asset. Knowledge of Luxembourg legislation, Luxembourg regulatory environment, dealings with the CSSF
  • Strong commercial and technical regulatory knowledge gained from working at an asset management firm, consultant, or regulator
  • Practical experience in dealing with / providing advice on / overseeing Ireland-based funds (UCITS & AIFs)
  • Ideally, good practical knowledge of alternative assets such as private equity, private loans or real estate
  • Fluent in the English language (spoken and written). French or German language skills would be an advantage
  • Pro-active team player with the ability to work independently where required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to address difficult situations and influence key decision-makers through knowledge and reasoning
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills. Having the confidence to express a point of view with conviction
  • Strong business partnership skills with the ability to build networks across businesses and influence key decision-makers through knowledge, reasoning and relationships
