My client is currently looking for a Housing Team Manager to join their Berkshire based Local Authority for an initial period of 3 months. This is a full time temporary role.

You will be responsible for leading and managing the Council's Housing Management Team responsible for residential property owned or leased by the Council or housing company. I am looking for a housing management professional with experience in the social housing and/or the voluntary housing sector to help to review current working practices and ensure that the service is managed to the highest standards, is cost effective and to making the most effective use of the Council's stock.

Your key duties will include:

*Ensuring the effectiveness of all aspects of property management for our temporary accommodation and shared supported properties: sign ups; void management; monitoring the condition of accommodation and any fittings/contents - overseeing communal cleaning and reporting defects

*Carrying out routine inspections and working with Property Services to organise repairs, redecoration, planned and cyclical maintenance

*Ensuring health and safety compliance and day to day housing management is completed

*Dealing with Anti-Social Behaviour and some aspects of client support (rent arrears) where tenancies/ placements may be at risk as a result of these issues.

*Working with a variety of households and client groups, some of whom may be vulnerable, and you will be liaising with appropriate internal departments and external agencies to ensure that tenancies are sustained and any housing management issues are addressed.

*Households will include homeless single people, couples, and families, who may have additional and sometimes complex support needs; people fleeing or experiencing domestic abuse; and former rough sleepers.

*Providing competent and technical decision making support to neighbourhood staff.

*Providing a high quality neighbourhood estate management service within a designated patch, supporting residents to comply with their tenancy and lease agreement.

*Taking the lead in implementing pro-active measures to deal with local issues.

*Managing a team of neighbourhood staff with the purpose of delivering an excellent and proactive housing management service to residents within the area and ensuring continuous improvement of the service

*Taking overall responsibility in the neighbourhood for consulting with and involving residents, members and senior officers on housing management issues and for developing excellent partnerships with stakeholders

*Taking responsibility for available budgets and resources for an effective service.

*Working with residents so that they are satisfied with their home and local environment and to be active members of their community.

*Managing a neighbourhood services portfolio as directed by PHM.

*Ensuring that tenancies and leasehold agreements reflect the expectations, rights and responsibilities of residents and that our service model has the right balance of prevention, support and enforcement.

*Ensuring effective sustainment strategies including maintaining a close working relationship on income collection with a view to minimising evictions.

*Delivering high performing services for tenants and leaseholders including satisfaction.

*Dealing with a variety of internal stakeholders: Asset Management, Finance, Customer Contact Centre, Development Team, Lettings Team, PR and Marketing and Business Improvement.

*Managing and leading a team of Tenancy and Neighbourhood Officers working within designated property patches in the provision of key housing services across several local authority areas.

As the client is keen for the candidate to hit the ground running previous experience of carrying out a similar role within a Local Authority or public sector client would be beneficial.
