Interim Health and Safety Manager

Initial 3 month contract

£200-£225 per day - Inside IR35


I am currently working with a public sector client who have identified that an interim Health and Safety Manager is required to support the Head of Property with the high workloads that have surfaced as a result of COVID-19 in health and safety. The right candidate will have experience of

delivering H&S training to senior managers, be CMIOSH qualified and be able to work at pace to meet demands of the organisation.

The client has confirmed the contract will start with a homeworking arrangement.

Key responsibilities

To be a source of trusted and professional H&S expertise to Directors and Head of Property through a combination of strong professional and technical expertise

To build professional relationships of trust and confidence with senior managers and directors, gaining detailed understanding of business objectives, aims and risks to provide business focused and timely professional advice on all H&S matters as required

Proven ability to deliver at pace and responsive to changing demands

To provide quantitative and qualitative management information as required using standard and tailored H&S information to influence and inform decision making and policy

To lead/support on complex H&S related matters/projects/policies changes on behalf of the Head of Property as required working alongside other internal stakeholders

To lead/support on preparing briefings as required in H&S related matters on behalf of the Head of Property as required working alongside other internal stakeholders

To prepare a policy document detailing our response to COVID-19 to aid lessons learned to inform future pandemics as part of Business Continuity Planning

To represent/deputise for the Head of Property in H&S matters at a senior directorate level, acting as an ambassador at all times.

Key Skills

CMIOSH - Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (UK)

Experience of working successfully at a senior level in a complex organisation providing professional advice to a range of stakeholders; influencing senior managers, directors and working in partnership with trade unions.

Experience of the successful application of leadership skills and ability to apply people focused solutions to issues with flexibility, gravitas and credibility.

Able to demonstrate and easily articulate expert knowledge and understanding in health and safety across different stakeholders

Experience of leading and managing change at pace and advising senior managers on complex issues.
