Waste and Recycling Project Support Officer

A fantastic job opportunity has arisen for an Waste and Recycling Project Support Officer to join one of our largest Local Authority clients in a temporary assignment for initially 6 months (with every possibility of extension depending on performance).

Based in South West London this is a full time role (36 hours per week, Monday to Friday).

Purpose of the role:

*To implement and monitor the council's Recycling and Waste collection contract across the borough.

*To implement waste and recycling projects across the borough to increase recycling and reuse in the borough, reduce the amount of waste going to landfill and reduce the street scene impacts of waste and recycling collections.

*To promote waste and recycling projects to all sections of the community, including residents, businesses, schools, community groups and other stakeholders.

Key accountabilities:

*To keep up to date with changes and best practise in the waste management industry, to ensure the council is providing excellent services to the community.

*To implement waste management projects to reduce the amount of waste being disposed of, in line with the Council's waste management strategy

*To establish and maintain a good working relationship with the Council's waste and recycling contractors to ensure good value for money.

*To monitor the Council's waste and recycling collection services to ensure high levels of service quality, customer participation and satisfaction.

*To promote the Council's waste and recycling schemes and services using various techniques including production of written literature and giving verbal presentations to internal and external groups.

*To work in partnership with stakeholders in the community including businesses, developers and local community groups.

*To record, investigate and respond to complaints from the public and others concerning Waste Management, complying with the Council's Customer Care and Service Quality criteria.

*To liaise with local communities, and businesses including to educate and inform them about their responsibilities in relation to environmental crime and to conduct projects and campaigns to assist with these aims. To develop and maintain communication channels with a variety of stakeholders and organisations by speaking to local residents to find out their concerns and seek to develop local initiatives to address such concerns within available resources.
