This is a very exciting opportunity for an individual who has at least 5 years Procurement/ Supply Chain experience in a manufacturing environment and is looking to continue and expand their career in Purchasing.
The Senior Purchaser will be responsible for the Procurement of materials and services to support predominantly satellite production and engineering facilities in Europe.
The business is about to embark on a major transfer of supply chain activity and this role is central to the strategy

Salary: £35k to £38k per annum plus company benefits (no car)

Key duties of the Purchaser will include:
* Continuously liaising with stakeholders and managers across the business(s) to assess demand
* The position will be responsible for the procurement of parts, stock and materials to ensure order deadlines are met
* Processing purchase orders in an ethical manner and in accordance with the organisations procedures
* Responsible for the all-encompassing day to day running of the Procurement needs at this location relating to suppliers, activities and responsibilities under your control
* Maintaining and accurate updating of purchasing data on the internal ERP system
* As part of an intensive transfer strategy, innovative sourcing of new suppliers for goods and services to achieve best value and quality; quotation rules apply and geographical bias is not acceptable, quotations to be sought from a pre-determined list of countries.
* Assisting in the transfer of goods between suppliers in order to generate commercial and quality benefits
* Building and maintaining good relationships with new and existing suppliers
* Processing delivery discrepancy, payment and invoice queries
* Identifying opportunities for cost savings and implementing improvements
* Experience in Purchasing KPI's (formulation and administration) and Quality Management KPI's (formulation and administration)
* Ideally with experience in subsequent improvement planning (formulation and administration) as a result of the KPI's.

This is a full time permanent role that will suit an individual who is comfortable engaging a variety of suppliers, across different commodity groups.

Who should apply
* You must have at least 5 years purchasing experience
* A High level of computer literacy is essential
* Experience in ERP systems or similar
* Total familiarity with MS word, Excel and Outlook is necessary
* Language skills would be viewed as a distinct advantage, particularly German, however, English is a necessity
* Experience of working with Global suppliers

Excellent communication skills are essential in this role, with an ability to work under pressures associated with supporting a manufacturing business. You will be based at a company facility in Greater Manchester, interacting with various suppliers in many countries, and with internal customers, located at manufacturing sites in Europe.
