Reporting to: Head of Accounting - London
The Company
A leading Soft commodities trading house, specialising in the origination and distribution of soft commodities and the provision of value added services, including finance and risk management, to its international customer base.

An opportunity has arisen for a permanent role within the Product Control department to take responsibility for the physical trading books.

The Role
The Product Controller will take ownership of the physical trading books ensuring the accuracy of trades within the system, producing and rationalising both the new business report and the monthly forward books. They will also report on the daily movements in FX exposures and provide back up to the derivatives Product Controller. The product controller will take the lead on the automation of our daily PL reporting which will involve coordinating and working closely alongside our programming team. A background in product control is desirable and excellent excel skills and a keen eye for detail is a prerequisite as is the ability to analyse and interpret data and work to deadlines.

*Ownership of the daily business report and reconciling to trader p&l's and forward books.
*Agree monthly valuations for quality, certification premia and location costs with traders.
*Provide support to the Commodities Accounting Manager on certification reporting.
*Preparation of physicals forward books for the monthly close, rationalising monthly movements and reporting on monthly p&l.
*Act as key contact and provide timely response to trade queries.
*Provide analysis of the daily fx exposures by trade book and movements.
*Approval of fx trades within the system.
*Act as back up to the derivatives product controller for the preparation of daily p&l and position reports for the derivatives desk.
*Lead the automation of our daily p&l and position reports.
*Partnering within the wider team to build efficiencies in current reports.
*Roll forward and design of new report models.

Skills & Experience

*2 plus years of relevant accounting experience, ideally trading and finance sector
*Qualified accountant
*Audit Experience from practice would be advantageous
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships.
*Prior experience in process improvement.
*Ability to analyse data and interpret results.
*Excellent excel skills.
*Excellent attention to detail.
