My client is a Government owned company, focusing on renewable energy. They are looking for a Lead Contracts Manager to join their growing and expanding team in London. Ideally, you'll have experience in the energy sector, managing complex contracts, leading on negotiations and have analytic skills as well.

About the Client:

My Client is an independent, not-for-profit company. The company has two regulatory roles that are central to the delivery of the government's objective of ensuring that the country has secure energy supplies that are reliable, affordable and clean.

They are developing and growing their current team, to build on their emerging centre of expertise and enhance their capacity as a trusted advisor on the development of electricity market schemes.

They are looking for people motivated by the clean energy agenda who are keen to work in proximity to government and closely with electricity generators and suppliers to deliver insights and build industry confidence in a constantly changing regulatory environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Contract Management:
* Have day-to-day oversight of direct reports and assign workload and tasks across the team

* Support the Contract Managers with regards to any emerging issues, and provide support as required on impact assessments

* Work closely with the Scheme Management team to ensure that all contractual issues and suggested improvements, across the portfolio of generic CfDs, are captured. This is based on knowledge of the projects and generators

* Have ownership and responsibility for assigned CFDs, acting as the Senior Account Manager and managing all contractual processes and issues, including actively identifying and resolving potential disputes, working with Legal to do so

* Support generators to satisfy requirements, contract requirements and project management pre start date

* Review & understand the various contracts, and have a strong understanding of the application of contract terms in line with the client's guidance

* Review and discuss portfolio issues with Scheme Management and escalate contract issues to Head of Contract Management as appropriate

* Apply judgement to manage the contracts, based on the client's overarching interpretation of the contract

* Manage the generator monthly reporting and provide generator reporting to Scheme Operations

* Ensure ongoing contract compliance such as managing FMS, RQM monitoring & reporting, and managing the Sustainability Criteria

* Understand financial and technical analysis and be able to competently procure and manage external advisers to conduct this on the client's behalf where necessary

* Provide commercial analysis and advice in relation to existing and/or new CfDs or other functions

Experience Required:

* Experience of handling large scale and complex commercial contracts with significant long term financial risk ideally in energy/ infrastructure

* Strong knowledge of relevant legal, regulatory and contractual management issues

* Good understanding of the current UK energy policy landscape and regulations and/ or good understanding of UK power and particularly renewables sector

* Proven commercial and contract negotiation experience

* Experience in developing and maintaining commercial relationships with key suppliers and stakeholders

* Knowledge of the CfD and / or the CM schemes is beneficial but not essential

* Project management experience and experience of managing multi-disciplinary transaction teams and/or contract managers

* Commercial sector experience is essential, public sector experience is desirable

* Experience of commercial dispute resolution in large scale complex contracts beneficial but not essential
