Badenoch & Clark is currently partnering with a highly important and respected Government organisation in Manchester City Centre to help them recruit a new Head of IT Service for their small but emerging IT function. They can offer interested applicants a genuine opportunity to help strategise and deliver a new and improved IT Service Delivery function with the opportunity to grow teams by taking some currently outsourced services in-house and implementing a newly defined IT service delivery strategy that you would play a key part in designing. In return, they can offer you a competitive salary, excellent benefits package and a positive and flexible working environment and culture.

The successful applicant to this newly created role will have end to end responsibility for the organisation's IT services, and will provide specialist expertise in the development, management and performance of ITIL aligned processes and associated activities across the service lifecycle. You will be responsible for the introduction of a service management tool and on-going development to improve productivity of IT service and accessibility to these services by users and customers. As well as designing ITIL aligned services, you will also have day-to-day management responsibility of a small team of IT staff, so applicants must demonstrate strong management skills and be able to engage and motivate staff to create an environment of continuous improvement.

The Service Management team currently only exists of an interim Service Manager and two Technical Analysts, who primarily look after end user support, video conferencing and mobile phones / tablets. The core IT infrastructure is provided and supported by a third party outsourced provider.

The organisation's move to ITIL is at a low maturity stage and they don't currently have a detailed service management strategy or service management tool in place. Therefore the new IT Service Manage will be heavily focused on reviewing how best to implement ITIL and shape what aspects of their infrastructure and services the organisation will support themselves as they continue to grow, and what they will continue to outsource.

As the current IT function is relatively small in size but is destined to grow, this role would suit an ambitious and proactive Service Delivery Manager who doesn't mind a varied role that could offer both the opportunity to take a very hands-on opportunity to delivery a new ITIL service footprint, but also the opportunity to get involved in a varied range of tasks that might not occur within a larger IT Service Department - no two days would be the same. Therefore we believe this role would suit someone who comes from a small-to-medium sized IT support service background and wants the opportunity to drive things directly and have a lot of influence and impact, rather than just being a cog in a wheel. This truly is a great opportunity to make a significant difference within your day-to-day role.

In return, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary in between £45k-£55k and an excellent pension scheme that offers matched contributions a lot higher than is typical. They are also an advocate of flexible and remote working, so you have the opportunity to have flexible working hours and they encourage working a day a week from home it that is any employee's preference.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking and progressing IT Department and work for an organisation whose purpose is to make a positive difference to the public, so please apply now for consideration. Badenoch and Clark acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and an employment business for the supply of temporary workers. Badenoch and Clark UK is an Equal Opportunities Employer.
