Badenoch & Clark have an opening for a proven IT Infrastructure Manager / Lead IT Engineer to join our client based in Surrey on a contract (day rates) basis.

Please note, due to IR35 legislation the pay model for this position will be via an umbrella company. If you do not wish to work through an umbrella company, this will not be the right position for you. If you are happy to work through an umbrella company please read on;

This position will be working mainly in a 3rd line technical lead capacity but the role also requires some man management and technical mentoring skills - 70/30 split. Reporting directly to the Head of IT you will be part of a close knit IT department and will be responsible for providing senior 3rd line server and network administration and problem resolution skills in order that all systems are working in a BAU state.

From a technical stand point your skill set, in order of importance should consist of the following;

- Citrix (XenDesktop, XenApp, Netscaler) - very important.
- O365 (Cloud) - important.
- LAN/VLAN/WAN/SAN network and Cisco routing & switching - important.
- Windows Server (2000 - 2016, latest versions highly favourable) - important.
- MS Exchange, Active Directory & Windows Desktop - likely/nice to have.

This position is best suited to a capable all rounder who enjoys technical leadership and can turn their hand to a diverse array of server and network related issues. It is likely that you will have a minimum of 5 years senior/3rd line technical experience and a career in IT infrastructure support that will likely extend to more than 10 years to date.

You will need to be a good communicator, confident and experienced working with and influencing the decisions of senior management. You will also act as main point of contact for 3rd party providers for all/any matters relating to IT infrastructure.

Whilst not essential, supporting technical qualifications such as MCSE, CCNA and/or ITIL Service Management will be in your favour.

The reason for this post is to back fill a senior member of staff who has left.

In summary, the core need for this role is to 'hold the fort', on all BAU server and network related matters until such point that a suitable permanent replacement can be appointed. If you enjoy working in small team environments where the day to day work offers you variety and good autonomy, this position will strongly appeal to you. If your preference is for much larger company environments with more prescriptive duties this is probably not the right role for you.
