Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing (KNH) was set up in 2002. We are a not-for-profit Kirklees Council-owned housing company and proud of it. Our tenants are council tenants and we manage 23,000 council houses; we have a long history of involving tenants and residents in the decisions that affect their homes and communities; and we have always been about more than bricks and mortar.

At a time of unprecedented challenges for our tenants we are in the middle of an extensive reshaping of the way that we deliver services to tenants and communities. Our new approach will ensure we know all our tenants and are able to tailor services to meet their specific needs and identify and address issues at a much earlier stage.

Job purpose

The main purpose of this role is to support the Safety, Health & Environment Manager with the strategic, operational and financial management of the business.
By working with employees in line with KNH's core behaviours and values, support the Senior Leadership Team to deliver the organisation's purpose, vision and objectives.
*Core duties & accountabilities

Effective contribution to the development and implementation of all required policies and procedures in relation to safety, health and environment ensuring compliance with all legislative requirements
*Provision of effective technical expertise, advice and quality assurance in relation to safety, health and environment matters including undertaking regular Quality Control inspections to ensure the satisfactory completion of work, standard of workmanship and competency of operatives and contractors.
*Responsible for the effective organisation and supervision of all resources to deliver the required service, communicating with other divisions to ensure the safe coordination of works.
*Devise, develop and monitor effective risk assessment and management strategies, making recommendations on the implementation of strategies.
*Contribute to the development and implementation and mana/gement of an Environmental Policy including procedures, reporting and roll out ensuring the required environmental statements are produced and maintained.
*Contribute to the development and implementation of Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems.
*Promote and coordinate the integration of environmental management and sustainability issues into strategies, policies, procedure and operational delivery.
*Identify opportunities for continuous environmental improvement and assist in the implementation of programmes to deliver these.
*Provides technical advice, training or tool box talks as required and recommend specification changes where applicable.
*Investigate accidents/incidents, complaints, and other claims for compensation, taking all necessary remedial action and providing recommendations to prevent any reoccurrence.
*Ensure all works and outcomes are in line with the Property Services Business and Operational Plans.
*Plan, co-ordinate workload appropriately to meet service and business demands.

Candidate requirements
*GCSE (or equivalent) Grade 4 (C) or above in English & Maths or equivalent.
*Holds NEBOSH National General or Construction Certificate.
*NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
*Member of IOSH
*Knowledge and practical experience in the application of relevant health and safety legislation in a multi discipline, multi-site environment.
*Significant experience in arranging and supervising the control of asbestos in domestic and non-domestic locations
