This opportunity sits within the Group Accounting Team, which covers both Management Accounting and Financial Reporting for the University. The Group Accounting Team is responsible for statutory reporting for the University from the consolidated Financial Statements to HESA (Higher Education Statistics Agency) and other funding bodies.

Job Description:
*To be a key member of the Group Accounting Team with specific responsibility for reporting on the University's TRAC position.
*TRAC (Transparent Approach to Costing) is a reporting requirement for all universities looking across the complete range of the University's activities - Teaching, Research and Other.
*A crucial aspect of the University's financial performance - setting the research overhead rates for the coming year and providing a number of key indicators for senior management.
*To maintain and develop the Excel based model for TRAC, ensuring the guidance is adhered to, communicating and planning for any upcoming changes and refining the current model to increase efficiency while maintaining accuracy.
*To liaise with senior academics, collecting departmental data and report on the results, by way of detailed analysis, scrutiny and interpretation, ensuring the validity of TRAC results.
*To understand movements in the TRAC position, to compare and challenge the results across academic disciplines and in the light of the University's overall financial position.

Ideal Candidate:
*We are looking for a qualified accountant with a good honours degree
*Someone who has sufficient knowledge and experience in data analysis
*Experience of costing and pricing and preferably experience working on costing models.
*Advanced user of Microsoft Excel.
*A pro-active individual with excellent communication and excel skills
*Well organised with the ability to meet strict reporting deadlines.
