A niche legal practice in Somerset is recruiting for a Fee Earner to join their team on either a Permanent or Interim/Locum basis to assist their team dealing with Court of Protection work.

The team provides Court of Protection services such as advice and representation to lay and professional clients in respect of mental capacity law, matters before the court in respect of applications brought under s16 MCA and challenges and reviews under s21A MCA

The Role will involve:-
- Assessment of mental capacity
- Appointment of a deputy
- Key decisions regarding accommodation or healthcare
- Validity of a lasting power of attorney
- Removal of a deputy or attorney
- Deprivation of liberty in a hospital or care home

A 12 month FTC is on offer to cover a maternity leave, or a monthly rolling hourly rate Locum contract can also be considered. Full time or Part time. The ideal candidate:-
- Will have some experience of working in this area of law (ideally a circa 2 year PQE Solicitor), however, the firm is open minded as to the level of PQE/experience and is prepared to provide training for the right candidate. Therefore, Legal Executives or Paralegals with experience should also apply
- Will be able to demonstrate an ability to work effectively within a team, manage their own caseload and that of supporting members of the team
- Will have a driving licence and be required to attend meetings and hearings across the South West, including being required to carry out their own advocacy
- Will have a strong commitment to Publicly Funded work
