Corporate Tax Analyst

The Corporate Tax Analyst plays a key part in the Tax Team, making up a team of 5 individuals. The role reports directly into the Corporate Tax Manager.

The role is focused around the Corporation Tax compliance cycle for approximately 45 UK & Irish companies, with elements of project work and ad-hoc tasks.

Responsibilities

Collecting data to prepare the analysis for the corporation tax computations, including liaising with other departments, such as Corporate Reporting, Capex and Technology

Analysing data sources to draft tax computations for around 45 UK and ROI companies, including fixed asset registers for additions and disposals and SAP data reports, for P&L analysis

Using the data to prepare tax computations in Alphatax to a very high standard for management review, including balance sheet and P&L analysis

Liaising with the Corporate Reporting Team during the statutory accounts process, ensuring the team are given the correct information for each company for the tax notes and tax disclosures using AlphaTax

Follow up on queries with data from other teams, querying discrepancies to ensure the tax computations are accurate

Have a good understanding of the tax return filing process, documentary requirements, including iXbrl tagging

Assist in monitoring deadlines in the corporate tax cycle, including the statutory accounts process, filing of the returns with HMRC and tax payments

Support the Corporate Tax Manager with quarterly and yearly reporting, including the collection of source data and preparing a file for SOX purposes

Involvement in the SAO process annually and the maintenance of process notes

Maintain documentation and records for all corporate tax compliance related matters, including processing/recording HMRC notices and ensuring filing is to required standard for internal/SOX purposes.

Main contact for our AlphaTax and CCH account managers, including organising the annual renewals and dealing with correspondence

Support the Corporate Tax Manager with ad-hoc tasks, as and when required

Assist other members of the tax team during busy times of the year, if and when required

Very occasional working in the London offices when required


Technical skill requirement

Actively studying ACA/ACCA/CTA or has previously studied AAT/ATT, with a view to continuing with professional development

Currently working or has recently worked in a role which is predominantly tax focused for at least 1-2 years

Has a solid base of tax compliance and accounting skills

Able to work on their own initiative with good interpersonal skills, as well as being able to take and understand instructions from management

A high level of IT literacy in Microsoft Office packages; SAP and AlphaTax preferable but not essential.
