Badenoch & Clark are partnering exclusively with a local housing association to assist them in recruiting a Building Surveying Team Manager on a permanent basis to work out of their offices located in Wakefield

This is an exciting opportunity to join this organisation as they go through a period of sustained growth.

Job purpose

* The main purpose leading the organisation's surveying team to develop and deliver future capital investment programs ensuring the stock is kept in good condition and meets business needs now and in the future.
* This will include taking the lead in developing strategies, plans, property interventions and carrying out all building surveying related functions.


Core duties & accountabilities

* Plan and develop large scale capital work schemes to meet the company's investment strategy in support of the corporate aims and objectives;
* Assist in the development of works programmes in order to effectively deliver the organisations investment strategy;
* Manage and deploy surveyors to develop capital investment and planned maintenance programmes;
* Act as the client in ensuring the delivery of programmes are in line with plans, budgets and specifications through managing a team of Senior Project Officers;
* Act as client representative when developing service level agreements and other contractual relationships to procure professional and construction services either in house or outsourced;
* Develop and research new initiatives in the provision of property investment preparing feasibility studies for discussion with Senior Management;
* Work with the asset programming manager to develop and agree with all stakeholders the capital investment programme;
* Develop works programmes in order to deliver the companies capital investment program with in house and outsourced contractors;
* Ensure that work programmes are packaged and programmed in order to enable the most effective value for money approach for WDH;
* Make sure that surveys are completed in line with programmed works in order to provide relevant contract information on time and to update the asset register based on stock condition;
* Ensure that all requests for permissions and associated asset enquiries are effectively managed within agreed performance levels;
* Act as the client in ensuring the programs are delivered on time, to budget and specifications;
* Manage the relationships with local planning and building control where required, ensuring necessary permissions are obtained and evidenced;
* Provide technical and planning advice as required;
* Act as specifier for asset components, undertaking research, analysis and reports as required. Maintaining a database of specifications and ensuring awareness across the organisation;
* Ensure that the asset database is updated accurately as required

Candidate requirements

* A construction related qualification
* Assoc RICS Status or willingness to work towards
* IOSH Managing Safely qualification
* Experience of undertaking building surveys.
* Knowledge of planning and building control processes and procedures
