Badenoch & Clark are partnering with a housing association to assist them in recruiting a Building Safety Manager on a permanent basis to work out of their offices located in Stockton

Job purpose
*The Building Safety Manager will be the responsible person for the day to day management of property related issues relevant to the organisations high risk and complex buildings (classified as housing of multiple occupation and/or above 18m).

*They will act as an important link for residents in relation to property related matters as well as our service delivery neighbourhood teams and health and safety colleagues.

*The Building Safety Manager will provide line management of our fire risk assessors and ensure that assessments are carried out in a timely fashion and that associated fire risk actions identified are closed out appropriately i.e. within an agreed timeframe to an appropriate quality.


Core duties

*Though not directly accountable, the Building Safety Manager will have responsibility for the majority of day to day management tasks in relation to the organisations complex buildings and put in place plans and actions to ensure continued compliance of those buildings
*A proactive management of risks will be essential, notifying various stakeholders as would be deemed appropriate and resolving within an agreed timescale
*Management of the fire risk assessment programme, production and sharing of appropriate information with staff and residents and ensuring actions are resolved to appropriate quality within an agreed timescale
*Management of the organisatgions permit to work system, ensuring this is implemented across all high risk and complex buildings and is being appropriately complied with
*Work alongside the Compliance Strategy Manager and Compliance Delivery Manager to ensure appropriate plans are devised and delivered which eliminate/reduce risks and ensure ongoing property compliance
*Liaise with the Health and Safety Executive and other enforcement agencies, as appropriate to consult on the development of HSE policies and to investigate any requests for information required from the HSE.
*Liaise with residents and other stakeholders to ensure appropriate property related information is shared and that the views of residents are incorporated into compliance plans going forward
*Manage health and safety issues in your area of responsibility in line with the relevant section(s) of the relevant Health and Safety Policy.


Candidate requirements
*Educated to Degree level or equivalent and/or professionally qualified in property management or a related discipline and/or the ability to demonstrate relevant experience in an operational, strategic or health and safety setting
*NEBOSH or IOSH would be preferred but not considered essential
*Property management experience would be preferred
*Demonstrable knowledge and experience of fire safety regulations, building regulations and property maintenance/compliance issues
