Our client, a major player within the Retail industry are seeking a Financial Controller to join the team on a 12 month fixed term contract to cover a colleague going on maternity leave. The business is going through a period of growth with ambitions for further growth. Reporting into the Finance Director the purpose of the role would be to lead the company's financial accounting, reporting and control activities across the organisation and to they are carried out efficiently, effectively and in line with best practice. To ensure the completeness and accuracy of the financial system. To ensure that the external reporting of the business is timely and consistent business messages are communicated to all stakeholders

*Ensure that all periodic stakeholder reporting is completed to deadlines.

*Develop systems and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective management of the company's finances

*Using a financial control framework, including financial accountabilities and authorities to ensure full financial control

*To develop and control a centralised accounting system to that accounts are effectively managed

*Act as the main point of contact to external auditors and provide all required information

*Ensure accounting policies comply with the relevant accounting standards and that group policies are followed

*Recommend changes that will improve the company's financial performance and financial controls

*Direct and review the preparation of the company's statutory accounts

*Authorise journals and sales orders as required

*Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations

*Act as key contact with group head office accounting team

*Responsible for the review and collection of outstanding monies from debtors

*Review and amend the company cash forecast as required

*Review and authorise 4-weekly payroll file

*Take part in ad-hoc projects aimed at improving company's customer focus and profitability

*Directly manage, advise, coach and develop the Financial Accounting and Transaction Accounting Team.

Key skills and experience

* Degree or equivalent.
* CIMA, ACA, ACCA Qualified, or equivalent
* Strong IT skills, extensive Excel knowledge
* Ability to grasp and analyse complex detail
* Demonstrable team leadership and managerial skills
* Demonstrable understanding of financial aspects of a business
* Experience of rail or similar transport/Retail/franchise industry (desirable)

Package: £55,000 -£70,000 + Excellent Benefits
